Women's Backpacking Trip in Rocky Mountain National Park
August 9th - 11th
"Carly and her team at Rocky Mountain Hiking Company created a truly amazing experience for our small group on the Rocky Mountain National Park Backpacking experience. Pre-trip communications were comprehensive and easy to understand and the execution of the trip itself was flawless. I highly recommend RMHC to anyone who has an interest in exploring hiking and backpacking, as this is a truly 5 star business." - J.T, Boulder, CO
Join us on a women's two-night basecamp backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park! The area where we will hike and camp is known for its alpine lakes and wildlife sightings. This trip is for any woman who wants to spend time in the wilderness with others, hike a moderate amount of miles, but also have downtime in the late afternoons and evenings.
Hiking Itinerary
The week before your hiking trip, your RMHC backpacking guide will contact you to double-check you have everything you need to make your adventure as enjoyable as possible.
Day 1 (6 Miles): We'll meet at the East Inlet Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park at 8 am and begin our 5-mile hike to the Gray Jay campground. The trail follows the East Inlet Creek almost the entire way to camp. Most of the hiking today will be uphill, but there's no rush to get to camp, so we'll take a snack break along the way at a nice soaking area. Once we arrive at our basecamp (which is technically an island!) we'll set up our tents, get settled, and relax. For dinner, we'll have the option of hiking a half mile up the trail to Lone Pine Lake.
Day 2 (6 Miles): The morning will start with a hot breakfast and coffee or tea. Then we'll begin our hike up to Lake Verna! We'll pass by Lone Pine Lake along the way. All of our gear will be left at camp since this is a basecamp backpacking trip. We'll walk along the shore of Lake Verna to the far end, where there's a beach for us to have lunch. We can also hop over to Spirit Lake which is a short distance from Lake Verna. After lunch, we'll make our way back to our campsite.
Day 3 (6 Miles): We'll chill and chat over tea and coffee in the morning, savor the final moments of not using our phones, and then hike back to the trailhead.
Please note this itinerary and the exact dates are subject to change based on the wilderness camping reservations we receive from Rocky Mountain National Park.
